Editing

Editing involves chopping up video into chunks, cutting out the rubbish (such as very shaky camera work, bits where the lens cap has been left on, Uncle George filming the pavement etc.) re-ordering things more logically, adding background music, adjusting sound levels and volume where needed, muting out unwanted noises and speech, adding transitions (TV style effects where one scene professionally blends into another or fades in or out), adding end credits (serious or fun!) subtitles, and even special effects.
